Even the best actors have their melodramatic moments, but every once in awhile, a performance goes from "a little over the top" to "insane." Maybe these performances are so over the top they circle back around to brilliant, or maybe they're just embarrassing. Either way, these clips offer examples of overacting at its finest...

@Mary Corbell No one but maybe a Scientologist might think something like BFE was non-fiction.

What about John Lithgow in Buckaroo Banzai? He was a bit over the top in The Twilight Zone too.

Can't watch annoying british voice. Just play the damn clip narcissist

Maximum overdrive was epic. And eerie as hell. Loved it as a young teen

Zardoz? So that's the movie that inspired that Rick and Morty gzorpazorp episode.

What about Patrick Magee in A Clockwork Orange?

Micheal sheen = only saving grace of the entire twilight saga. A very highly credited actor plays such a small part.. Yes his laugh was a bit bizzare but Michael sheen is well known for play the weird and bizzare very very well he does not belong in this list

Brian Blessed is awesome. We quote that scene all the time.

Why, in these "looper" videos, do you guys insist on doing so much voiceover? People watch these video lists for the clips themselves, not a narrator talking about the clips. I would say 75% - 90% less narration and 100% - 200% more clip length, and these videos wouldn't get all the downvotes. Fun facts and background information is important, but it has to actually build up to a clip worth watching. Having only 2 seconds of a clip with actual audio is just dumb. Cut out all the narration that isn't to-the-point background info and facts - the zingers and try-hard wit is completely unnecessary. Ironically, the narrator is over-acting, or over-doing it, and it's incredibly annoying.

"Why not go over the top, right?" -- yeah fuck off. Seriously, there's obviously appeal in what Looper does, and movie lists are fun. And you guys manage to dig up some interesting stuff, and put out more content than anybody. But then you completely ruin it by basically glossing over the interesting parts and dwelling way too much on the element of these videos that is completely valueless - the narration.

How did all of the LotR movies not make this list?

DO IT RICOOOO!

The way the steampunk spider was implemented into Wild Wild West is one of the most irritating hollywood things I can think of xD So bad!

How dare you mock The Flash?

As horrifying as it is, Michael Sheens acting in Twilight was the highlight of the whole series. Made a nice change from both of Kristen Stewarts emotions from start to finish and Twinkly vampires/puppy dogs crying over who gets to be more depressed...

battlefield earth with Travolta was good average memorable movie compared to others which i almost forgot

Even though I liked the movie, the 2004 Van Helsing had a lot of overacting throughout. It could have been much better, but sadly the director, Stephen Sommers, actually liked and encouraged the overacting aspect of it.

No Ron Leibman in Zorro the Gay Blade?

Dieter Laser in Human Centipede 3
I have no idea what to think of his performance but god was his character awfully annoying, over the top and cringy beyond belief

what a boring video

When the fuck are we going to get a remake of Flash Gordon and Zardoz, or even a remake of Battlefield Earth?! They make shitty ass remakes all the time, including Wild Wild West.

and wait...I'm sorry...did you say that Wild Wild West was DEVOID of humor? It's hilarious.

I LOVED Michael Sheen's giggle. At the time, I really liked twilight (and without the emotional abuse, I actually really like the universe because It's different from the traditional vampire mythos) - as he himself explained, it showed how surprised he was that he broke his stoic character.

I do suggest more research could help a bit here...I watched alot of movies, from alot of different countries too, and this list is not even anywhere near overact...considering the title says 'in movie history' and the current number of films out there are near half a million...lets just call it overact moments in American movie history...even that I think there are still worse ones out there somewhere...

You can't claim Sean Connery was pulling off the Borat look decades before the Borat look existed. Looper? More like POOPER! Boom, still got it.

The importance of being earnest
A HANDBAG?????????????

why would someone even try hard to act good in Twilight...you can just fucking stand there do nothing and you would act better than the rest of the tools...you dont need to use your superior acting in this shit, it doesnt deserve it.

I wish you would shut up more and let the scenes play out

Thumbs down for criticising Zardoz.

good job! now I wanna watch Twilight... >_<

Where's Jared Leto as the Joker ?

you know what?... Battlefield Earth was alright. lol.

I thought the Michael Sheen scene was actually good. I thought he actually made that stupid movie.

Jesus christ. Maybe try showing more than one line of each performance? The performances themselves are much more interesting than your narration of them.

that dreadlock alien shit was just funny, not overacted.
